Friends of Bowker Creek Society

This grant will be used to plant an area of Bowker Creek Park where volunteers have removed invasive yellow flag iris with approximately 12 different species of native wetland wildflowers from Satin flower Nurseries, including mountain sneezeweed, Henderson’s checker mallow, Douglas aster.

Brandon, who spearheaded this project, showed us the area and outline the work that has been done, as well as their plans for the future. This project is part of at the larger revitalization of Bowker Creek. Most recently, boxes stocked with 28,000 chum salmon eggs from the Goldstream Hatchery were placed in the Creek in January, and the fry emerged at the beginning of April!

No one told me that part of my duties as President would be to act as a human scarecrow to protect the new plantings!
