We meet on the First Tuesday of each month (except January and August) at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre at 3277 Douglas St. (the meeting hall entrance is on Roderick St.)
Doors open at 6.30pm. The meeting begins at 7:00 pm, and includes:
•A presentation by our featured speaker
•A lucky draw for donated plants and other prizes
•A Parlour Show
You can also:
•Shop for bargains at the Plant Stall
•Visit the Library
•Socialize and meet new gardeners
•Get answers to specific questions about plants or gardening from a Master Gardener.
Non-members are welcome at any of our meetings. A drop-in fee (normally $5) gives entry for the entire evening, and will be applied towards the annual Membership Fee if you join that evening.
Special Meetings: December is our annual potluck celebration – an opportunity to socialize with our enthusiastic member-gardeners.
The VHS operates a plant stall at its monthly meetings, staffed by knowledgeable members with information about the items available for sale. It opens at approximately 6:30pm, and also operates during the refreshment break. (Note: No plant stalls in December)
Tables are set up at the rear of the meeting hall, where items donated by members are available for sale at reasonable prices.
Members are invited to bring donated items between 6:00pm and 6:30 pm. Please bring plants ready for sale: potted or carefully bagged and labeled: doing this means less work for the volunteers, as they do all the pricing and sales.
If you would like to receive a tax receipt for your donations you will need to fill out a VHS Plant List form. If you have not donated before, you might want to read the Plant Stall Donation Instructions.
We also accept donations of gardening items such as used tools, pots and containers for growing plants, stakes, hoses, ID tags/markers and other kinds of useful implements and tools. Anything donated should be clean and of good quality. We will not accept toxic materials (pesticides, herbicides) or inferior or damaged goods.
Third parities may be able to rent a table, depending upon space and availability. See this page for more information.
